RACHEL

Meet our Monday muse! Rachel Ingram worked as a stylist at a number of fashion magazines before becoming global head of styling at Net-a-Porter. More recently she joined luxury fashion tech company @ThreadsStyling where she currently works as Editor in Chief.

Describe Timeless as a state of eternal existence.

Timeless is that moment you find your own style, quite separate from the trends, and start investing in items for your wardrobe that you lean on season after season.

What is timeless to you?

My sense of smell would be my superhero power and for me a scent can conjour up any moment in time, no matter how far back. Scents are totally timeless and different perfumes remind me of different stages of my life - The heady Chanel no.5 my grandmother used to indulge me with at 4 years old and that she still wears to this day, the sweet and sugary university nights out in Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, the light and fresh Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess gap year, and the desperate-to-be-sophisticated Molecule 1 when I started working at magazines.

Please share and describe for us 3 photos of objects / places / clothes / people you consider timeless:

I try to keep consistent with my scent now and have worn Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge for years - probably because I want to evoke the same nostalgia from my own children.

When choosing fine jewellery, I adore pieces I can wear every day - timeless and unfussy. I don't believe in saving things for best, your possessions are meant to be used and loved. The gold bracelet was given to me by my grandmother at 12 years old, I recently found it and haven’t taken it off since - a beautiful example of a timeless gift.

There is something so timeless about a beautiful handbag, and with three little girls I feel like I’m investing in their future! I love pulling out bags from my mother’s wardrobe from the 80’s or 90’s to wear today - and I hope my girls will one day do the same.
