LAURA

LAURA

Meet Laura Normanton, Executive Editor at House & Garden magazine.  She lives in west London with her husband Rory and just spend the last 10 months renovating their home which we had the pleasure to visit some weeks ago.
Laura  is wearing our Vicky Dress in sky.

Please share and describe for us 3 photos of objects / places / clothes / people you consider timeless:

Painting - I inherited this painting by Paul Mars from my Grandmother.  It sits in pride of place above the sofa in our sitting room and makes me think of her often; it's nice to know that she enjoyed living with it in just the same way that I enjoy it now too. Antiques and art make a house feel like a home and I think it is important to layer old and new to give a home interest.  Antique markets such as Kempton are great places to look and there are lots of online dealers and market places (The Hoarde is one of my favourites).

Laura is wearing our Nicola Top in white & Natalia Trousers in Striped.

White Blouse - Nothing is more hard wearing or timeless than a white shirt...they look just as good with ripped jeans as with tailored trousers or a suit for the office. These are a few of my favourites; from Isabel Marant, With Nothing Underneath, Carolina Herrara, Equipment and Vilshenko.

Laura is wearing our Eva Dress in Midnight Navy.

The Villas of Andrea Palladio -I studied Architectural History at Edinburgh University which lead on to me getting a job at House & Garden magazine. For my final dissertation, I wrote about the architecture of Andrea Palladio; specifically his villas in the Veneto which are perfect expressions of symmetry, harmony and proportion. To this day, they are still studied and replicated by architects all over the world.  Good design stands the test of time.
